Surfer Laird Hamilton and his wife, professional volleyball player Gabrielle Reece, have just sold their Maui ‘Jaws’ home for $2.4M. The home was originally listed for $2.8M and was only on the market for a week before it sold.
Hamilton’s 5,000+ sq-ft home on 10 acres is known as the ‘Jaw’s house, as it is located on a bluff near a famous surf spot known as “Jaws” off Paia. Hamilton says he can even hear Jaws break from his bedroom. Hamilton and Reece built their home in 2004 to be close to Jaws, since it produces some of the biggest waves in the world.
Hamilton and Reece’s home has 4 suite-style bedrooms that each include their own private bath and built-in closets. The entire first floor is made up of a gym and a 1,764 sq-ft garage that accommodates 6 vehicles and watercraft. Other interior finishes of their home include Italian marble counter tops, oak and limestone flooring, and Imperial plaster walls. Outside there’s a 1,000-sq-ft wraparound deck that shows off views to the North Shore of Maui. They also have rock walls & royal palms, a 1-Million gallon fish pond overlooks tranquil gardens and mature foliage, and a 2nd natural swimming pool that’s joined by waterfalls and is accessed by a water slide.
According to WSJ, Hamilton and Reece sold their home because they’re spending more time at their property on Kauai.
