NFL Legend and Hall of Famer Joe Montana has recently discounted his 500 acre California vacation home $14M dollars, and has re-listed his Calistoga wine country mansion for $35M. Montana originally put his vacation retreat, ‘Villa Montana‘, on the market back in 2009 for $49M.
Montana’s Tuscan villa-style mansion, which is so large that extends into both Napa and Sonoma counties, is 9700 sq-ft with 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and 500 acres of Californian landscape, amazing mountain views, a skeet-shooting range, bocce ball court, olive farm, equestrian stable, full-sized basketball court, private pond, and outdoor pool and spa.
The Montana’s estate not only took 3 years to build, but they also had a lot of the items imported in from Europe as well. Some of which include tall 16th century iron gates in the gallery, a Montana family crest that was painted by a French artist and hung over the massive marble fireplace, a hanging tapestry in the great room with 22 ft high ceilings, and a marble bathtub that was so heavy it needed to be moved in by crane. There is also a pizza oven, numerous hidden flat-screen TV’s, a beer tap, and even a bell tower.
Outside Montana’s 500 acre estate includes a guest house, his equestrian stable with 17 horse stalls and indoor arena (each horse stall has its own heat lamp, fan and video camera), horse riding trails throughout the property; the custom inground swimming pool with spa, full basketball court, skeet shooting range, and the gym which is its own separate building from the house. There is also a 45 ft deep pond with a man made white sand beach around it, and is fully stocked with bass.
Montana was not only a NFL Hall of Famer, but he also was an 8 time Pro-Bowler with the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs. He now owns his own wine label, Montagia, and has 4 children, 2 of which who are currently playing college football.
